Beef And Rice Stuffed Cabbage Rolls
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/3 cup uncooked rice
- 1 egg
- 1 onion, chopped fine
- 2 tbsp shortening
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1 can tomato soup
- ½ cup celery, chopped
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp parsley, minced
- 6 cabbage leaves
- Salt and pepper
Method
- 1 Combine ground beef, rice, egg, salt, and pepper; mix well.
- 2 Sauté onion in shortening until soft. Add tomato soup, equal amount of water, celery, parsley, lemon juice, sugar, salt, and pepper. Cook for 10 minutes.
- 3 Wash cabbage leaves and boil until tender.
- 4 Place equal amounts of meat mixture into cabbage leaves, roll tightly, and secure with toothpicks.
- 5 Place rolls in a saucepan, pour sauce over them, cover, and cook very slowly for 3 hours.
