Beef And Rice Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/3 cup uncooked rice
  • 1 egg
  • 1 onion, chopped fine
  • 2 tbsp shortening
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • ½ cup celery, chopped
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp parsley, minced
  • 6 cabbage leaves
  • Salt and pepper

Method

  1. 1 Combine ground beef, rice, egg, salt, and pepper; mix well.
  2. 2 Sauté onion in shortening until soft. Add tomato soup, equal amount of water, celery, parsley, lemon juice, sugar, salt, and pepper. Cook for 10 minutes.
  3. 3 Wash cabbage leaves and boil until tender.
  4. 4 Place equal amounts of meat mixture into cabbage leaves, roll tightly, and secure with toothpicks.
  5. 5 Place rolls in a saucepan, pour sauce over them, cover, and cook very slowly for 3 hours.
