Battered Fried Apple Slices
Ingredients
- 3 good juicy cooking apples
- 3 eggs
- 6 oz Allinson fine wheatmeal
- 1/2 pint milk
- sugar to taste
- oil, vegetable butter, or butter for frying
Method
- 1 Peel and core the apples, then cut them into 1/4-inch thick rounds.
- 2 Whisk together the eggs, milk, wheatmeal, and sugar to form a smooth batter.
- 3 Heat oil or butter in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
- 4 Dip apple slices into the batter and fry until golden brown on both sides.
- 5 Drain fritters on blotting paper and serve immediately.
