Battered Fried Apple Slices

Ingredients

  • 3 good juicy cooking apples
  • 3 eggs
  • 6 oz Allinson fine wheatmeal
  • 1/2 pint milk
  • sugar to taste
  • oil, vegetable butter, or butter for frying

Method

  1. 1 Peel and core the apples, then cut them into 1/4-inch thick rounds.
  2. 2 Whisk together the eggs, milk, wheatmeal, and sugar to form a smooth batter.
  3. 3 Heat oil or butter in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
  4. 4 Dip apple slices into the batter and fry until golden brown on both sides.
  5. 5 Drain fritters on blotting paper and serve immediately.
