Bath Buns
Ingredients
- 1 cake yeast
- 2 cups warm water
- flour (enough for moderately stiff sponge)
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup lukewarm milk
- 1 pinch salt
- 2 eggs, well beaten
Method
- 1 Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add flour to make a stiff sponge and let rise for 2 hours.
- 2 Cream butter and sugar. Mix in milk, salt, and beaten eggs.
- 3 Combine mixture with sponge. Let rise for 1 hour.
- 4 Knead, shape into buns, and arrange close together in a pan. Let rise until very light.
- 5 Bake in a moderate oven (350°F) until done.
