Basic Vanilla Cake
Ingredients
- ¼ cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
Method
- 1 Cream shortening and add sugar slowly.
- 2 Mix in well-beaten egg and vanilla extract.
- 3 Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- 4 Add dry ingredients and milk alternately to the mixture.
- 5 Bake in greased pans in a 350°F oven.
