Basic Sponge Cake With Baking Powder

Ingredients

• 1 cup sugar
• 1 cup flour
• 4 eggs
• 1 heaping teaspoon baking powder
• 5 tablespoons water
• pinch of salt

Method

1. 1 Rub sugar and egg yolks together until very light and creamy.
2. 2 Add water and half of the flour to the mixture.
3. 3 Sift baking powder and remaining flour twice.
4. 4 Fold in the sifted flour mixture along with beaten egg whites and a pinch of salt.
5. 5 Stir gently to combine.
