Banana Ladyfinger Trifle

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 heaping teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 bananas
  • 6 ladyfingers
  • 1/2 pint heavy cream
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

Method

  1. 1 Slice bananas and layer them in a glass dish with four split ladyfingers.
  2. 2 Combine milk, water, sugar, salt, and cornstarch in a saucepan.
  3. 3 Cook over heat until thickened, then pour over the banana and ladyfinger layers.
  4. 4 Allow the mixture to cool completely.
  5. 5 Top with whipped cream or sweetened whipped egg white.
  6. 6 Garnish the edge with the remaining split ladyfingers.
