Banana Cinnamon Hand Pies
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 8 tbsp shortening
- 1/2 cup ice-cold water
- 1 banana
- 1 tsp brown sugar
- Pinch of nutmeg
- Pinch of cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp butter
- Cold water for brushing
- 1 egg, beaten
Method
- 1 Sift flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar together in a mixing bowl.
- 2 Rub in shortening, then mix with ice-cold water to form a dough.
- 3 Roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness and cut into 3x6 inch oblongs.
- 4 Place peeled banana on each pastry piece; sprinkle with brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, and butter.
- 5 Brush edges with cold water, fold over banana, and press to seal.
- 6 Place seam-side down on greased sheet, brush with beaten egg, and bake at 350°F for 18 minutes.
