Baked Walnut Loaf

Ingredients

  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1½ cups English walnut meats, chopped exceedingly fine
  • 4 cups bread crumbs, grated
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Salt to taste
  • Milk, as needed to moisten

Method

  1. 1 Chop the walnut meats exceedingly fine.
  2. 2 Beat the eggs and mix with the walnuts, bread crumbs, butter, and salt.
  3. 3 Add enough milk to moisten the mixture so it holds together like a loaf; avoid making it mushy.
  4. 4 Press the mixture into a buttered bread pan or baking dish.
  5. 5 Bake for 20 to 30 minutes until set.
  6. 6 Serve hot with tomato sauce, peas, or salad.
