Baked Veal With White Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 lb veal, finely minced
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon flour

Method

  1. 1 Preheat oven to 350°F. In a baking dish, layer the minced veal and bread crumbs, seasoning each layer with salt and pepper and dotting with butter.
  2. 2 Make a white sauce by melting 1 tablespoon butter, whisking in flour, then adding milk. Stir until thickened.
  3. 3 Pour the white sauce over the layered veal and crumbs. Top with a final layer of bread crumbs.
  4. 4 Bake in the preheated oven until the top is golden brown and the dish is heated through.
