Baked Vanilla Custard Puddings

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 pint milk
  • few drops vanilla, almond, or lemon extract
  • butter for greasing
  • sugar and cream for serving
  • strips of Canton ginger (optional)

Method

  1. 1 Beat 2 eggs with 1 teaspoon sugar thoroughly but do not froth.
  2. 2 Slowly add 1/2 pint milk and a few drops of flavoring essence.
  3. 3 Pour mixture into a buttered mold or individual molds.
  4. 4 Place molds in a pan of hot water and bake until firm.
  5. 5 Chill thoroughly, then turn out onto a serving dish.
  6. 6 Serve with sugar and cream; garnish with ginger strips if desired.
