Baked Tuna Melt Sandwiches

Ingredients

  • 1 (5 ounce) can water-packed tuna
  • 2 medium celery stalks, chopped
  • 1/4 cup shredded American cheese
  • 1/4 cup light mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon instant minced onion
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 slices whole wheat bread

Method

  1. 1 Preheat oven to 350°F. Drain tuna and break apart with a fork.
  2. 2 Chop celery and shred cheese. In a bowl, mix tuna, celery, cheese, mayonnaise, onion, salt, and pepper.
  3. 3 Divide mixture into six portions. Place one portion on each of six bread slices, then top with remaining slices to form sandwiches.
  4. 4 Wrap each sandwich securely in a square of aluminum foil.
  5. 5 Bake for 20 minutes or until hot in the middle. Pierce foil to release steam before serving.
