Baked Tuna Melt Sandwiches
Ingredients
- 1 (5 ounce) can water-packed tuna
- 2 medium celery stalks, chopped
- 1/4 cup shredded American cheese
- 1/4 cup light mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon instant minced onion
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 12 slices whole wheat bread
Method
- 1 Preheat oven to 350°F. Drain tuna and break apart with a fork.
- 2 Chop celery and shred cheese. In a bowl, mix tuna, celery, cheese, mayonnaise, onion, salt, and pepper.
- 3 Divide mixture into six portions. Place one portion on each of six bread slices, then top with remaining slices to form sandwiches.
- 4 Wrap each sandwich securely in a square of aluminum foil.
- 5 Bake for 20 minutes or until hot in the middle. Pierce foil to release steam before serving.
