Baked Sweet Potato Biscuits
Ingredients
- 2 cups mashed sweet potatoes
- 1 cup milk
- 4 tablespoons shortening
- 1 egg
- 4 tablespoons sugar
- 1 quart flour
- 3 tablespoons baking powder
- 1.5 teaspoons salt
Method
- 1 Beat mashed sweet potatoes, milk, shortening, egg, and sugar together.
- 2 Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- 3 Add dry ingredients to wet mixture and work into a smooth dough.
- 4 Roll dough on a floured surface and cut into squares.
- 5 Place squares on a baking sheet and brush with milk.
- 6 Bake in a 425°F oven for 15 minutes.
