Baked Stuffed Onions With Ham
Ingredients
- 8 onions
- 1 cup cooked ham, finely chopped
- 1 cup fine soft breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Additional melted butter for basting
- Celery tips for garnish
Method
- 1 Parboil onions for 1 hour. Drain and cut a circular piece from the top of each onion to create cups. Finely chop the removed onion tops.
- 2 Mix the chopped onion tops with 1 cup chopped cooked ham, 1 cup breadcrumbs, 1/4 cup melted butter, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- 3 Season the inside of the onion cups with salt and pepper, then stuff them thoroughly with the ham and breadcrumb mixture.
- 4 Bake in a slow oven (300°F) for about 30 minutes, basting occasionally with melted butter. Serve garnished with celery tips.
