Baked Stewed Plum Pasties

Ingredients

  • 6 ounces whole wheat flour
  • 2 ounces white flour
  • 3 ounces butter
  • Stewed French plums, pitted
  • 1 egg, beaten

Method

  1. 1 Make a paste by mixing the flours, butter, water, and half the beaten egg.
  2. 2 Roll the dough out thin and cut into four-inch squares.
  3. 3 Place a pitted stewed French plum in the center of each square.
  4. 4 Moisten the edges with water, fold the squares over, and brush with remaining egg.
  5. 5 Bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for 15 to 20 minutes.
