Baked Steak With Tomatoes And Cheese

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs round or chuck steak
  • Flour for dredging
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup sliced onions
  • 1 cup well-drained tomatoes
  • Salt and paprika to taste
  • 4 tbsp grated cheese

Method

  1. 1 Cut steak into portions, wipe clean with a damp cloth, pat with flour, and place in a baking dish.
  2. 2 Bake in a hot oven (425°F) for 20 minutes, basting every 10 minutes with 1 cup of boiling water.
  3. 3 Add sliced onions and drained tomatoes to the dish. Return to oven and bake for 15 minutes.
  4. 4 Remove from oven, season with salt and paprika, sprinkle with grated cheese, and bake for 5 more minutes.
