  • drained sardines
  • lemon juice
  • cracker crumbs
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 cup tomato juice
  • salt
  • pepper
  • grated onion
  • sugar
  • brown bread slices

Method

  1. 1 Marinate drained sardines in lemon juice, then drain and sprinkle with cracker crumbs.
  2. 2 Place sardines in a hot oven (425°F) for 10 minutes.
  3. 3 Melt butter and flour together in a saucepan. Add tomato juice and cook, stirring constantly, until thickened.
