Baked Salsify With White Sauce
Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked salsify
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 1 1/2 cups white sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Butter for greasing dish
Method
- 1 Cook salsify: scrape, slice, boil in salted water until tender, then drain.
- 2 Grease a baking dish. Sprinkle a layer of bread crumbs on the bottom.
- 3 Add a layer of cooked salsify, then season with salt and pepper.
- 4 Add remaining salsify, season again, then pour white sauce over everything.
- 5 Top with remaining bread crumbs and bake in a hot oven (425°F) until browned and heated through.
