Baked Rump Steak And Shallot Pie
Ingredients
- 3 lbs rump steak, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
- 6 shallots, finely chopped
- 1/2 oz mixed pepper and salt
- 1/4 cup mushroom ketchup
- 1/4 cup gravy or red wine
- Optional: Large oysters, parboiled and bearded
Method
- 1 Chop the shallots finely and mix with the pepper and salt.
- 2 Layer the steak pieces in a baking dish, sprinkling the seasoning mixture between each layer.
- 3 Pour the mushroom ketchup and gravy (or red wine) over the top.
- 4 Cover the dish and bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for 2 hours.
