  • 1 cup red wine
  • Sugar to taste
  • Ground cinnamon
  • 1 pie crust (puff or short pastry)

Method

  1. 1 Place sliced apples in a saucepan with red wine, sugar, and cinnamon.
  2. 2 Simmer until the apples are very soft and the liquid has reduced to a thick syrup.
  3. 3 Mash the mixture into a thick paste resembling marmalade.
  4. 4 Line a pie dish with pastry, fill with the apple mixture, and cover with a pastry lid.
