Baked Red Wine Apple Tart
Ingredients
- 4-6 pippin apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup red wine
- Sugar to taste
- Ground cinnamon
- 1 pie crust (puff or short pastry)
Method
- 1 Place sliced apples in a saucepan with red wine, sugar, and cinnamon.
- 2 Simmer until the apples are very soft and the liquid has reduced to a thick syrup.
- 3 Mash the mixture into a thick paste resembling marmalade.
- 4 Line a pie dish with pastry, fill with the apple mixture, and cover with a pastry lid.
- 5 Bake at 350°F until the crust is golden brown, then let cool slightly before serving.
