  • 2 large potatoes
  • 6 onions
  • 2 teaspoons sage
  • 1 ounce bread crumbs
  • 2 ounces butter
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper

Method

  1. 1 Peel potatoes and slice lengthwise into 1/2-inch thick slices.
  2. 2 Grease a baking dish with 1.5 ounces of butter and arrange potato slices inside.
  3. 3 Boil onions for 15 minutes in salted water; add sage in the last 5 minutes.
  4. 4 Chop onions and sage, then mix with bread crumbs, remaining 0.5 ounce butter, salt, and pepper.
  5. 5 Spread the mixture thickly over the potato slices and bake for 1.5 to 2 hours.
