Baked Poppy Seed Pudding With Orange
Ingredients
- 4 oz white poppy seeds
- 3 eggs, separated
- 3 oz sugar
- 1.5 oz butter
- 6 oz fine wheatmeal
- 2 tbsp orange water
- 1/2 pint milk
Method
- 1 Scald poppy seeds with boiling water, drain, then crush finely in a mortar, adding a little milk.
- 2 Mix crushed seeds with egg yolks, sugar, wheatmeal, butter, orange water, and remaining milk.
- 3 Beat egg whites to stiff peaks and gently fold into the mixture.
- 4 Pour into a buttered pie dish and bake at 350°F for 1 hour 30 minutes.
