Baked Oyster Stuffed Bread Loaves

Ingredients

  • small loaves or rolls of bread
  • oysters
  • oyster liquor
  • bread crumbs
  • chopped celery
  • butter
  • heavy cream

Method

  1. 1 Cut a round piece from the top of each loaf and scoop out the soft crumb.
  2. 2 Combine oyster liquor, bread crumbs, chopped celery, and a large piece of butter in a saucepan.
  3. 3 Bring to a boil, then pour the hot liquor over the oysters to cook them.
  4. 4 Fill the hollowed loaves with the oyster mixture and add a teaspoon of cream to each.
  5. 5 Replace the crust tops and bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for a few minutes until heated through.
