Baked Orange Bread Pudding
Ingredients
- 3 oranges, peeled and diced
- 1 ½ cups fine bread crumbs
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 well-beaten egg
- ¾ cup milk
- 3 tablespoons shortening
- ½ cup syrup
- ½ cup sugar
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 6 tablespoons flour
Method
- 1 Dice the oranges and place in a bowl with bread crumbs and boiling water.
- 2 Mix, let cool, then add egg, milk, shortening, syrup, sugar, baking powder, and flour.
- 3 Mix thoroughly and pour into greased custard cups or a pudding mold.
- 4 Place in a pan of hot water and bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for 40 minutes.
