Baked Onion And Cheese Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Spanish onions
  • 4 oz cheese
  • breadcrumbs
  • pepper and salt to taste
  • 1 oz butter
  • 2 tbsp water

Method

  1. 1 Peel and thinly slice the onions. Grate the cheese.
  2. 2 Arrange onions in a pie dish in layers, sprinkling cheese, pepper, and salt between each layer. Finish with a layer of cheese.
  3. 3 Scatter breadcrumbs over the top, then dot with bits of butter.
  4. 4 Pour 2 tablespoons of water into the dish. Bake for about 2 hours.
