Ingredients

  • 1 quart flour
  • 4 level teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 ½ cups milk

Method

  1. 1 Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together in a large bowl.
  2. 2 Stir in chopped nuts, then gradually add milk and mix thoroughly.
  3. 3 Knead the mixture into a loaf shape and place it in a square pan.
  4. 4 Brush the top with melted butter and let it stand for twenty minutes.
  5. 5 Bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for three-quarters of an hour.
