Baked Molasses Sweet Potatoes

Ingredients

  • 4 large sweet potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup New Orleans molasses

Method

  1. 1 Peel and slice the sweet potatoes lengthwise.
  2. 2 Place potatoes in a covered saucepan with butter, salt, pepper, and enough water to moisten.
  3. 3 Steam until tender, then drain.
  4. 4 Transfer potatoes to a buttered baking dish.
  5. 5 Pour molasses over the potatoes and bake until the molasses caramelizes.
