Baked Macaroni With Tomato Meat Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground meat
  • 2 onions
  • 1 large tablespoon butter
  • 1½ tablespoons sugar
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 large can tomatoes
  • 2 lbs macaroni
  • Parmesan cheese
  • 2-4 cups water

Method

  1. 1 Melt butter in a pan and cook onions until light brown.
  2. 2 Add meat and cook slowly, then add sugar, salt, pepper, and tomatoes.
  3. 3 Simmer sauce for 3 hours or longer, adding water as needed until dark mahogany.
  4. 4 Boil macaroni in salted water for 20 minutes; do not cook entirely, then drain.
  5. 5 Layer macaroni, cheese, and sauce in a baking dish, ending with sauce and cheese.
  6. 6 Bake in a medium oven (350°F) for 30 minutes.
