Baked Honey Ground Beef Lentils
Ingredients
- 1 pound uncooked lentils
- 1 small bay leaf (optional)
- 5 cups water
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 pound 90% lean ground beef
- 1/3 cup honey
Method
- 1 Combine rinsed lentils, bay leaf, and 5 cups water in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes. Do not drain. Discard the bay leaf.
- 2 Chop the onion. Combine onions with 1 cup water and add to the lentils, mixing well.
- 3 Brown the ground beef, drain and discard the fat, then add the meat to the lentil mixture and mix.
- 4 Pour honey over the lentil mixture. Cover tightly and bake at 350°F for one hour.
