Baked Ham With Sherry And Breadcrumbs
Ingredients
- 1 small lean ham
- 1 onion
- 4 sprigs parsley
- 6 whole cloves
- 6 peppercorns
- Breadcrumbs
- Sugar
- 1 pint sherry
Method
- 1 Soak ham in cold water for 6 hours. Place in a saucepan, cover with cold water, and add onion, parsley, cloves, and peppercorns.
- 2 Boil slowly for 2 hours. Let cool in the water, then remove, skin, and pat dry.
- 3 Sprinkle the ham thickly with breadcrumbs and sugar. Place in a roasting pan and pour sherry over it.
- 4 Bake at 350°F for 40 minutes, basting every 10 minutes. Serve hot with gravy or cold.
