Baked Ham And Hominy Casserole
Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked hominy
- 1 cup chopped cooked ham
- 1/3 cup fat
- 1/3 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon mustard
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne
- 1 egg
- 1 cup milk
- ½ cup water
Method
- 1 Melt the fat in a saucepan.
- 2 Add flour, salt, mustard, and cayenne; stir to combine.
- 3 Slowly whisk in milk and water until smooth.
- 4 Heat the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly.
- 5 Stir in the cooked hominy and chopped ham.
- 6 Remove from heat and stir in the egg.
- 7 Transfer to a baking dish and top with buttered breadcrumbs.
- 8 Bake until the top is browned and the dish is heated through.
