Baked Gooseberry Bread Pudding

Ingredients

  • 1 pint gooseberries
  • ½ pint milk
  • 4 oz moist sugar
  • slices bread-and-butter

Method

  1. 1 Stew gooseberries with a little water and sugar for 10 minutes.
  2. 2 Dip bread slices in milk and place one at the bottom of a pie dish.
  3. 3 Add a layer of stewed gooseberries.
  4. 4 Repeat layers of dipped bread and gooseberries until the dish is full.
  5. 5 Bake gently for 1 hour.
