Baked Escalloped Tomatoes With Bread Crumbs
Ingredients
- 1 quart can tomatoes
- 1 cup water
- Salt
- Pepper
- Sugar
- Bread crumbs
- Butter
Method
- 1 Strain the tomatoes, reserving one cup of the water.
- 2 Layer tomatoes in a baking dish; season with salt, pepper, and a little sugar.
- 3 Cover with bread crumbs and dot with butter.
- 4 Repeat layers, finishing with bread crumbs, butter, and a dessertspoonful of sugar.
- 5 Bake for 45 minutes and serve in the dish.
