Baked Escalloped Cauliflower

Ingredients

  • 1 head cauliflower
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • enough cream or milk to moisten
  • 1 egg, well-beaten
  • salt and pepper to taste

Method

  1. 1 Boil cauliflower until tender. Separate into small pieces or leave unbroken.
  2. 2 Pack cauliflower into a buttered baking dish, stems downward.
  3. 3 Mix bread crumbs, melted butter, enough cream or milk to moisten, beaten egg, salt, and pepper.
  4. 4 Spread mixture over cauliflower. Cover and bake for 6 minutes, then uncover and brown.
  5. 5 Serve in the same dish.
