Baked English Muffins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 oz butter
  • ¼ yeast cake
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 cups flour
  • additional flour for dough
  • butter for serving

Method

  1. 1 Scald 1 cup milk, add 1 oz butter, and let cool.
  2. 2 Stir in ¼ yeast cake, 1 tsp salt, and 3 cups flour. Beat well, cover, and let rise for 2 hours.
  3. 3 Add enough flour to make a soft dough. Work lightly and divide into small balls.
  4. 4 Place each ball in a well-greased muffin ring and let rise again.
  5. 5 Bake on a hot griddle until done. Tear open and butter before serving.
