Baked English Muffins
Ingredients
- 1 cup milk
- 1 oz butter
- ¼ yeast cake
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 cups flour
- additional flour for dough
- butter for serving
Method
- 1 Scald 1 cup milk, add 1 oz butter, and let cool.
- 2 Stir in ¼ yeast cake, 1 tsp salt, and 3 cups flour. Beat well, cover, and let rise for 2 hours.
- 3 Add enough flour to make a soft dough. Work lightly and divide into small balls.
- 4 Place each ball in a well-greased muffin ring and let rise again.
- 5 Bake on a hot griddle until done. Tear open and butter before serving.
