Baked Eggs With Gruyere And Cream
Ingredients
- butter for greasing
- thin slices fresh Gruyère cheese
- fresh eggs
- grated nutmeg
- pepper
- salt
- ½ cup cream
- grated Gruyère cheese
Method
- 1 Rub a stoneware platter thickly with butter and cover it with thin slices of fresh Gruyère cheese.
- 2 Break fresh eggs upon the cheese and sprinkle with grated nutmeg, pepper, and salt.
- 3 Pour half a cupful of cream over the eggs and sprinkle with grated cheese.
- 4 Bake for about 15 minutes in a hot oven (425°F).
- 5 Serve on the same platter on which the eggs were baked.
