Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 1/3 cup water

Method

  1. 1 Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  2. 2 Beat the egg, melt the shortening, and mix both into the water.
  3. 3 Add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients to form a soft dough.
  4. 4 Roll dough to ½ inch thickness on a floured surface and cut with a biscuit cutter.
