Baked Custard Tarts

Ingredients

  • 1 quart flour
  • ½ pound butter
  • salt
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • cold water
  • 1 pint cream
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • nutmeg

Method

  1. 1 Mix flour, butter, salt, and 2 beaten eggs. Add cold water to form a paste. Chill.
  2. 2 Roll out dough. Cut into rounds. Form rims from strips of dough, notch edges, and place on rounds.
  3. 3 Bake shells for 15 minutes until set. Remove from oven.
  4. 4 Whisk cream, 4 eggs, and sugar. Fill baked shells with mixture.
  5. 5 Grate nutmeg on top. Bake for another 15 minutes until set.
