Baked Cornbread With Syrup
Ingredients
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1 ¼ cups flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 5 tsp baking powder
- 2 tbsp shortening
- 4 tbsp syrup
- 1 egg
- 1 ½ cups milk
Method
- 1 Combine cornmeal, flour, salt, baking powder, shortening, syrup, egg, and milk in a mixing bowl. Beat hard to mix.
- 2 Pour batter into well-greased square pans.
- 3 Bake in a hot oven (425°F) for 35 minutes.
