Baked Cored Apples With Lemon Compote

Ingredients

  • 5 apples
  • 1 small lemon
  • ¼ lb brown sugar
  • ½ pint water

Method

  1. 1 Wipe apples but do not peel. Core four apples and place them in a deep dish.
  2. 2 Slice the fifth apple and the lemon. Add slices to the dish with the cored apples.
  3. 3 Sprinkle brown sugar over the apples and add water.
  4. 4 Bake until perfectly soft but do not let them lose their shape.
  5. 5 Remove from oven. Press and strain the cooked apple and lemon pieces over the whole apples.
  6. 6 Serve cold.
