Baked Cod And Oyster Casserole
Ingredients
- 2 cups white sauce (made with flour, butter, and hot milk)
- 2 pounds cold boiled codfish, picked into fine bits
- 1 pint oysters, chopped fine
- Salt, to taste
- Fine bread crumbs
- Butter, for greasing dish and topping
- Cold water, for basting
Method
- 1 Prepare a white sauce by stirring flour, butter, and hot milk until smooth and thick.
- 2 Pick the cold boiled codfish into fine bits and chop the oysters finely.
- 3 Grease a pudding dish and layer the cod, oysters, and white sauce, sprinkling salt on the cod layers.
- 4 Top with bread crumbs and small bits of butter. Baste with a little cold water.
- 5 Bake in a moderate oven (350°F) until the top is browned.
