Baked Cinnamon Apples With Lemon
Ingredients
- tart cooking apples, pared, cored, and sliced
- sugar
- cinnamon
- grated lemon rind
- butter
- water
- lemon juice
- cream or hard sauce for serving
Method
- 1 Layer sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, and grated lemon rind in a baking dish.
- 2 Dot each layer with small lumps of butter.
- 3 Continue layering until the dish is full, adding more sugar and butter on top.
- 4 Add a small amount of water and lemon juice to the dish.
- 5 Cover and bake until apples are nearly cooked, then uncover to brown.
- 6 Serve hot with cream or hard sauce.
