Baked Chocolate Custard
Ingredients
- 1 pint milk
- 2 eggs
- 1 oz chocolate, shaved
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 inch stick cinnamon
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp boiling water
- 2 tbsp sugar
Method
- 1 Heat milk and cinnamon in a double boiler for 10 minutes.
- 2 Melt chocolate with 3 tbsp sugar and 1 tbsp boiling water until smooth.
- 3 Stir chocolate mixture into hot milk, then remove from heat and cool.
- 4 Beat eggs, salt, and 2 tbsp sugar. Stir in cooled milk mixture and strain.
- 5 Pour into cups in a water bath and bake at 350°F for 30 minutes until firm.
- 6 Serve very cold.
