Baked Cherry Cake

Ingredients

  • ½ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2½ cups flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup pitted cherries
  • 1 egg

Method

  1. 1 Cream together the butter and sugar, add the egg, and beat well.
  2. 2 Sift the flour and baking powder, then add alternately with the milk, blending well.
  3. 3 Flour the cherries and stir them into the batter.
  4. 4 Pour the batter into a baking dish and bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for 30 minutes.
  5. 5 Serve with plain or whipped cream.
