Baked Cheese Soufflé
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons flour
- ½ cup milk
- ½ teaspoon salt
- few grains cayenne
- 1 cup grated American cheese
- 3 egg yolks
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 3 egg whites
Method
- 1 Melt butter in a saucepan. Add flour and stir until well mixed.
- 2 Slowly add milk, stirring constantly. Add salt, cayenne, and cheese.
- 3 Remove from heat. Stir in beaten egg yolks and let cool slightly.
- 4 Fold in baking powder and beaten egg whites until combined.
- 5 Pour into a greased dish and bake in a slow oven (300°F) for 25 minutes.
- 6 Serve immediately.
