Baked Cheese Soufflé

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • few grains cayenne
  • 1 cup grated American cheese
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3 egg whites

Method

  1. 1 Melt butter in a saucepan. Add flour and stir until well mixed.
  2. 2 Slowly add milk, stirring constantly. Add salt, cayenne, and cheese.
  3. 3 Remove from heat. Stir in beaten egg yolks and let cool slightly.
  4. 4 Fold in baking powder and beaten egg whites until combined.
  5. 5 Pour into a greased dish and bake in a slow oven (300°F) for 25 minutes.
  6. 6 Serve immediately.
