Baked Cheese Potatoes Au Gratin

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Crisco
  • 1 quart peeled and diced potatoes
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 cup grated cheese
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp white pepper
  • breadcrumbs

Method

  1. 1 Cut potatoes into 1.5-inch pieces and boil in salted water until tender. Drain.
  2. 2 Place drained potatoes in a greased fireproof baking dish.
  3. 3 Melt Crisco in a saucepan, whisk in flour, then add milk. Stir until boiling.
  4. 4 Stir in cheese, salt, and pepper. Pour sauce over potatoes.
  5. 5 Top with remaining cheese and breadcrumbs. Bake in a hot oven (425°F) for 5 minutes.
