Baked Cheese Potatoes Au Gratin
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp Crisco
- 1 quart peeled and diced potatoes
- 2 cups milk
- 1 tbsp flour
- 1 cup grated cheese
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp white pepper
- breadcrumbs
Method
- 1 Cut potatoes into 1.5-inch pieces and boil in salted water until tender. Drain.
- 2 Place drained potatoes in a greased fireproof baking dish.
- 3 Melt Crisco in a saucepan, whisk in flour, then add milk. Stir until boiling.
- 4 Stir in cheese, salt, and pepper. Pour sauce over potatoes.
- 5 Top with remaining cheese and breadcrumbs. Bake in a hot oven (425°F) for 5 minutes.
