Baked Cheese And Vermicelli Casserole

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces vermicelli
  • 3 ounces grated cheese
  • 1 pint milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 ounce butter

Method

  1. 1 Stew vermicelli in milk for 5 minutes, then stir in grated cheese and cook for another 5 minutes.
  2. 2 Add salt, remove from heat, and let cool slightly. Separate the egg, keeping the yolk in the pan and the white in a bowl.
  3. 3 Whip the egg white to stiff peaks, then fold it into the cheese mixture.
  4. 4 Pour into a buttered pie dish and bake for 20 minutes.
