Baked Cheese And Bread Custards

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Cheshire cheese, grated
  • 2 oz white bread, grated
  • 2 oz butter
  • 1/2 pint heavy cream
  • 1/8 tsp white pepper
  • 2 egg yolks

Method

  1. 1 Combine grated cheese, bread, butter, cream, and pepper in a saucepan. Boil gently until well mixed.
  2. 2 Remove from heat and let the mixture cool completely.
  3. 3 Beat in the egg yolks until smooth.
  4. 4 Pour the mixture into buttered paper cups or ramekins.
  5. 5 Bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for 20 minutes until set.
