Baked Caramel Custard Syrup

  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup hot water
  • 1 pint milk
  • 4 eggs
  • pinch of salt

Method

  1. 1 Brown ½ cup sugar in a saucepan, then carefully add ½ cup hot water and simmer for 15 minutes to create a caramel syrup.
  2. 2 Whisk 4 eggs with a pinch of salt and 1 pint milk until slightly beaten.
  3. 3 Pour the egg mixture into the caramel syrup and stir to combine.
  4. 4 Pour the mixture into a baking dish and bake in a slow oven (300°F) for 40 minutes.
  5. 5 Let cool and serve cold.
