Baked Buttermilk Cornbread

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup cornmeal
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 3/4 cup sweet milk
  • 1-2 eggs, beaten

Method

  1. 1 Sift together cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a bowl.
  2. 2 Work in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. 3 Stir in the milk and beaten eggs just until combined.
  4. 4 Pour batter into a greased pan and bake in a moderate oven (350°F) until golden.
