Baked Bananas With Caramel Sauce
Ingredients
- 6 large bananas
- 1 cup butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons evaporated skim milk
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 2 teaspoons water
Method
- 1 Preheat oven to 400°F. Place unpeeled bananas on a baking sheet and prick skin several times with a fork.
- 2 Bake bananas for about 8 minutes until skins turn black. Remove from oven.
- 3 In a saucepan over moderate heat, cook butter, water, and sugar until mixture turns medium brown caramel.
- 4 Whisk milk and dissolved cornstarch into the caramel. Return to heat and boil, stirring constantly, until thickened.
- 5 Peel and slice bananas lengthwise. Serve hot caramel sauce over the sliced bananas.
